Uber Ipoh Is Now Available In February!

Guess what? Uber Ipoh is finally available throughout February! Just in time for Chinese New Year. This should be an exciting news to those who will be travelling back to Ipoh but with no transportation to get around, especially those travelling via train or bus.

First of all, what is Uber?

Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through its platform, Uber makes cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business opportunities for driver partners. From Uber’s founding in 2009 to its launches in more than 361 cities in 67 countries today, Uber’s rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.

Basically, Uber Ipoh is like a taxi but better and cheaper. Yes, CHEAPER.

Do you have any idea how ridiculously expensive riding in a taxi could be? I’ve asked a taxi driver after arriving in Ipoh by ETS train from KL how much it would cost to a location that’s less than 5 minutes away.

Are you kidding me? I’d rather walk in the middle of the night!

In PJ, when I asked how much it would cost from IKEA to Kelana Jaya LRT station, one taxi driver quoted me RM20! Crazy! But at least, he was kind enough to help call another taxi for me, who used the metre instead, and the actual cost was about RM12 (to Taman Bahagia LRT instead).

So, Uber Ipoh aims to solve that problem. From 1 – 28 February 2016, Ubers will be rolling through the streets of Ipoh; to ensure you have a safe and convenient option to get around. This way, not only Uber Ipoh will help those with transportation problems, but it will also help alleviate the increased burden of congestion, parking and also reducing the risk of drink driving incidents.

How much is the fare for using Uber Ipoh?

Not expensive, right? It’s another way to save cost as well.

Initially, since Uber Ipoh has just launched, availability may be limited so be aware that you might experience a slightly longer waiting time than usual.

Don’t forget to experience Uber Ipoh while you’re in this lovely city this February!
